Regions in the world are facing challenging transitions. Such as from linear to circular creation processes. This method contributes to the current transitions in society by promoting knowledge sharing, stories and exchange.

Nog geen eeuw geleden ging het grootste deel van het vrachtvervoer over water. De zeilvaart had daarin zowel op de binnenwateren als buitengaats een belangrijk aandeel. Het was een hard bestaan voor de schipper, zijn vrouw en kroost. Wat een moed, zeemanschap en toewijding waren nodig om het schip ‘vrij’ te bevaren, zodat het beroep en de manier van leven konden worden
doorgegeven aan een volgende generatie. Van Ameland tot Maastricht sprak Hylke Speerstra met tientallen schippers en hun vrouwen. Dit resulteerde in deze bundeling verhalen, die de schipperij een stem gaf die wellicht anders nooit zou zijn gehoord. Een waardevolle oral history over een bijzondere episode in de Nederlandse maritieme historie.Als hoofdredacteur van schippersweekblad Schuttevaer raakte Sp eerstra in de ban van de spankracht van het varensvolk. Hij schreef er vier verhalenbundels over: Kop in de wind, De laatste echte schippers, Schippers van de zee en Bij nacht en ontij.
