Tames Oud
€ 25,00De op Ameland geboren Tames Oud (1895-1953) is een uitzonderlijke Friese kunstenaar uit de vorige eeuw. Zoals veel Amelander jongens was hij in de eerste plaats een zeeman. Vanaf 1918 werkte Tames Oud in een suikerfabriek, als glasblazer, huisschilder en -decorateur, sjouwer en kroegbaas. Niettemin werkte hij steevast aan zijn oeuvre. In 1920 vestigde Tames Oud zich in België en volgde hij de Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel. Hij koos voor het vak ‘kunstschilder’ toen hij eind 1938 naar Den Haag verhuisde.
Ondanks dat zijn werk sterk werd beïnvloed door Vlaamse pointillisten en expressionisten, bleef het een eigen karakter behouden. Zowel in zijn schilderijen, grafiek als tekeningen zocht Oud naar krachtige, eenvoudige vormen en koos hij onderwerpen uit het dagelijkse bestaan van boeren en vissers. De herinneringen aan zijn eiland van herkomst bleven daarbij altijd een rol spelen.
Het boek verschijnt bij de gelijknamige overzichtstentoonstelling in Museum Belvédère en de Stichting Amelander Musea, te zien van 17 juni tot en met 24 september 2023.
