Negentien kunstenaars lieten zich een jaar lang inspireren door de Drentsche Aa, de enige meanderende Nederlandse beek die nog in originele staat verkeert. De kunstenaars volgden al schetsend en schilderend de beek vanaf de bron tot aan de monding. Allen hebben hun eigen indrukken uitgewerkt, wat een fantastische verzameling figuratieve, impressionistische en abstracte tekeningen, schilderijen, grafieken en beelden opleverde. Een selectie hiervan is opgenomen in Beek in Beeld en Egbert Meijers schreef er een bevlogen tekst bij.

Egbert Meijers (tekst) is een culturele duizendpoot, muziekkenner en niet alleen ambassadeur van Het Nationaal Park Drentsche Aa, maar van de regionale cultuur in het algemeen.
