Het Lam Gods van Jan en Hubrecht van Eyck is een uitzonderlijk meesterwerk, een van de invloedrijkste schilderijen ooit gemaakt. Peter Schmidt schetst de historische achtergrond, het ontstaan en de lotgevallen van het altaarretabel. Hij leidt de lezer binnen in de complexe verhouding tussen beeld en interpretatie. De iconografische rijkdom van Het Lam Gods is niet gemakkelijk te doorgronden. De auteur gidst ons langs de vierentwintig panelen van het veelluik, waarbij de bijbel en de geschriften van de kerkvaders gebruikt worden als sleutels.
Peter Schmidt is titulair-kanunnik van de Sint-Baafskathedraal, doctor in de theologie en vermaard exegeet. Hij is lid van de European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Wenen.

Victor Horta and the Frison House in Brussels

The absolute eyecatcher is the winter garden, whose elegant design allows soft yellow light to flow subtly into its perfectly proportioned space.Nupur Tron is the author of this book and owner of the house. In recent years, she has breathed new life back into Horta’s masterpiece. She pieced together bits of the old chandeliers she found in one of the cellars. She had items of furniture designed by Horta lovingly restored. With great passion, she continues to search for the funds that will allow her to restore the entire house to its former glory, one step at a time.

Nupur Tron is from India. She studied Design, Marketing & Merchandising and Fine Arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She designs jewellery, in which the different styles of east and west meet in harmony.

Museum Belvédère

Na de inleiding bestaat het eerste – meer beeldende – deel uit een weergave van talrijke hoogtepunten uit de collectie, ingedeeld naar thema’s als: ‘Havens, zee, duinen’; ‘Mensen, koppen, portretten’ en ‘Bloemen, struiken, bomen’. Het twee deel bestaat uit een alfabetische opsomming van alle kunstwerken uit de collectie, die op naam van de kunstenaar terug te vinden zijn. Als geheel biedt het boek een uniek overzicht van de moderne en hedendaagse kunst die het museum rijk is. Het toont werk van belangrijke Friese schilders als Jan Mankes, Thijs Rinsema, Tames Oud, Gerrit Benner, Boele Bregman, Willem van Althuis en Sjoerd de Vries, maar laat daarnaast ook werken van geestverwanten uit binnen- en buitenland zien.
Het collectieboek wordt ingeleid en is samengesteld door Han Steenbruggen, die sinds 2008 directeur-conservator van Museum Belvédère is.
