Grootvader Dirk Enno Wiersma was een Fries-Groningse boer die God buiten de deur zette. Zoon Enno Dirk vertrok naar Wenen, werd psychiatrieprofessor in Groningen en vroeg zich met Freud af: ‘Was will das Weib?’ Kleinzoon Dirk, criminoloog en ook psychiater, verkoos samen met zijn Belgische vrouw in Oegstgeest de dood om de ontluistering voor te zijn. Alle drie waren ze in de twintigste eeuw noodzakelijkerwijs kind van hun tijd.

Buisman is the Director of Wetsus – European Center for Sustainable Water Technology, and Professor at Wageningen University, in the Netherlands.
