waaronder de bloeiperiodes in de zeventiende en achttiende eeuw, de geografische ontwikkelingen – bijvoorbeeld in relatie tot landgoederen –, een verificatie van oude benamingen. Hij beschrijft de werkprocessen, de bouwmaterialen en gereedschappen. Alle aspecten van de eendenkooien heeft hij gekwantificeerd, zoals de vangstgegevens en prijzen van gevangen vogels en eieren op de afzetmarkten. Deze veelzijdige studie bevat ook een sociologische analyse, over benamingen en familienamen, en beschrijft de eendenkooien als cultureel erfgoed, van heraldiek, dorpswapens en dorpsvlaggen, tot spreekwoorden en gezegden.
